Javier Sneak Peek

If I could remember correctly the first time I met Jina was at the Korean church. Following that my sister taught her swim lessons, and way after that we cheered in high school together.
I have fond memories of Jina and to this day her jovial laugh and witty and raw sense of humor remind me why I like her so much.
I hope you enjoy the photos...
Our kids (hers and mine) won't wear anything but crocs. They do rock.
Cute as a button
 Smile Lucy!
I know it's my job as the photographer to get the kids to laugh, but Lucy was just not having it. I had to post this one for mom.
A little better....
With this face, I don't care if she smiles or not. She's beautiful.
 Chalk wall
Look who showed up for the family photo shoot! Wubzy!
What? All four looking at the camera?
I tell them "Give each other a kiss" and this is the face Jeff makes. Ahhh, true love.
The kiss after the face.
Nap time for Lucy? Having your photograph taken is hard work.
At the end of the day, smiling or not, grumpy or sad, how could you not love this little face?

Dear Dads....

Dear Dads,
Why is it
necessary to
scare the living
crap out
 of us?

At least the kids (and dogs)
were amused...

Let me go change my pants now. kidding. sort of.

Good night moon...

There is almost nothing as good as when your child finally takes that needed nap...
(puzzled this together from 3 pictures)
except when they wake looking like this
Now this is heaven...
how could you not be in a good mood?
But I still love nap time. ;)

Teri

When my oldest childhood friend asked me if I could take some photos of her I felt honored. For everyone who knows Teri you know how vibrant of a person she is. People flock to her because she has the most amazing personality, most caring heart, and the richest soul of anyone I have ever met or know or known. That's the truth. I can only hope I am lucky enough to know her my entire lifetime and that we can grow very old together.

Expressions

If you are a parent, you know what I mean when I say that there is no greater joy than to have a child or children. Yes, time to time you are pushed to your limits, but it is the simplest moments, like the ones I captured this morning (as we waited for Dad to come home from shift) that truly give me so much pleasure.

a simple smile of contentment...
excitement that Dad will be home soon...
contemplation over how to spend the day with his family...
trusting that he will always be loved and protected (and you will always be Finn)...
pure joy...
confusion over what is going on...
a look of disgust as mom makes farting noises to make her smile...
sibling rivalry....
and the best of them all... sibling love.

The New Children's Museum

We visited the New Children's Museum (or as Finn would call it the "News-eum") on Thursday for a photo shoot, with the lovely Park-Javier Family. Never in a million years would I have thought this place was so vibrant with ...

nature....
art.....
imagination and exploration....
color....
and purity...

And may I add... germs. Bring your hand sanitizer...

Despite the germs, if you haven't been there you should. We spent a good 2 hours there and the kids were so exhausted afterwards. Check it out. Let me know if it's what I said it was. You won't be disappointed.

King Family

I forgot how great the Oceanside Harbor is to photograph. Thank you Adam, Jianna, Cayson, and baby Brooks for letting my into your world. It was a true pleasure. Hope you love the photos.

Carly

Today I got the experience of photographing my (former) boss's daughter, Carly. She is the most mature 17 year old I have ever met, so much so that at one point I considered getting her number to hang out with her. She is classy, mature, easy going, and easy to photograph because she is comfortable and confident in who she is. Carly, continue to follow your dreams and your heart and never change who you are for anyone because you are beautiful. Thank you for this awesome experience. I hope you love the photographs.

Japan Relief Photo Session

How would you feel if the ground violently shook for long seconds underneath you?

How would you feel if a 33 feet wave of water came rushing toward you, wiping out everything in its sight?

How would you feel if one of your loved ones was one of the 800 plus people missing and you couldn’t get a hold of them?

How would you feel if one of your loved ones was one of the 1,000 plus people killed?

How would you feel if everything you knew, owned, loved was gone?

If it were you, wouldn’t you want to know that someone cares? Wouldn’t you want help?

To place myself in any or all these situations is unimaginable. What can I do to help?

Chris Nelson Photography is offering one day of 20 minutes photo sessions. Every mini session’s proceeds will go directly to help those in need in Japan.

Your donation may not be able to buy new clothes, or a new house, but it can do one thing.

Show them that you care. Half way across the world, you can show them that they are not alone.

In a time like this where you think you can’t do anything you can. You can smile for them here, so they can smile over there.

The human spirit is amazing. Please take action, whether it simply a prayer, or booking a session, or donating directly. We can and will make a difference.
