Kirpalani Family

Isn't this world small?
So here's the story. One that proves the degrees of separation.
See this beautiful woman in this picture?
No I'd never met Shawna before this session... but all along we were connected.
You see years ago I used to work in this restaurant in San Luis Obispo called the Apple Farm.
Now insert her husband Charan.
Yup, I worked with him...
I know he doesn't really remember me, but i have the memory of a champ, so I remember him.
So what's the connection?
So had I never worked with Amy I would have never done her her maternity photos, who then referred me to her friend Jennifer who she was in a book club with, who referred me to Shawna who was married to Charan, our paths would have never crossed again.
Small world right?
Anyhow, Kirpalani family, I am so very glad our path did cross {again}
it was really truly my pleasure.
xoxo, C.
PS Go mustangs!

Nolan {9 days}

Mia was my roommate for several years after college before I met Wes.
She saw me in the worst of times
and the best of times.
I have very fond memories of Miss Mia {can we say Martini Ranch?}
and those thoughts and memories only grow fonder as I
meet her family {sons Jack and Nolan, husband Drew, and who could forget Satchel Moe}
and watch them evolve into a very happy entity.
Nolan,
you are very lucky to born into this beautiful family.
xoxo, Cho

Sofia {turns 1!}

From about 3 months to around 10 months, it is ridiculously easy to make most, if not all, the infants I photograph smile and laugh.
But something happens around 1...
Its like a flip of a switch....at 1, they are quite the opposite,
Only allowing a few seconds of smiles and laughs....
(thats why they pay me the big bucks ;) to make them look like the happiest baby on the block)
 But behind the scenes, most of the time they look like this....
 P.O.ed.
At me.
At their parents.
At the cute outfits and headbands we put on them.
Pretty much at everything.

And the truth is {in my opinion}... that's ok.
For me it captures that moment in their life.... and it will pass.
See... look here.... just a few months ago baby Sofia was literally one of the happiest babies I photographed.

Honestly, I like the serious look just as much as the happy look...
So with that being said, if your child does not smile, don't be sad or mad, just take it as one chapter in their large book of life.

Sofia, you did the serious look so well.
I look forward to photographing you again.... happy, serious, mad, sad, or jumping for joy... you are perfect as you are.

Maddie {she's 1!}

You might remember baby Maddie when I did her newborn pictures
or when I did her dedication
And one year later I have the pleasure of doing her 1 year photos.
It gives me so much joy to see past newborns grow into happy, beautiful, and healthy children.
Maddie, like I've always said
you are a gem.
You warm my heart and I ALWAYS look forward to seeing you
and catching up with your most wonderful parents.
Happy 1st birthday!
